Produced in Czechoslovakia, this vanity item includes a crystal base that measures approximately 2 1/4" long, with the bottles and stoppers measuring approximately 3 3/4" tall (sitting on tray). Abels and Wassenberg, a New York company, purchased thousands of blank (unpainted) glass pieces from Fenton, Westmoreland, Cambridge glass during WWII, when imports were reduced. These were then hand painted with various patterns including the famed Charleton pattern of rose buds with gold accents. It is a floral footed and hand-painted Cambridge Milk Glass centerpiece bowl. Adorned with pink roses, blue flowers and gold accent, it is very romantic, and so typical of 1940s home elegance. Measures11.5 x 3.75 and the glass is intact with no chip, hairline or fleabites. Pattern is in amazing condition. There is a bit of fading on the gold accent, but it is barely noticeable.
